The theme of this student photography exhibition at the West Valley College Art Gallery focuses on the subject of self and society in relation to the topics of social identification, culture, gender, race, age, individuality, community, and identity. Potential topics may be the exploration of stereotypes, societal pressures, preservation of culture, your personal cultural expressions, how you/others view who you are, images of communities, how you relate to the world or the community around you. The photographs displayed will give individual students a voice as a way to create conversations and communicate ideas about the representation of self and society as seen through the lens of the camera. How do individual people or communities express who they are to society?
