New Arts Faculty!
We are thrilled to introduce two new tenure-track arts faculty! Laura Lowry in Theater Arts and Mitra Fabian in Studio Arts. Welcome! Brief bios follow:
Laura is delighted to be a part of the West Valley College theater department. She began her college teaching career as an adjunct faculty of Las Positas College. Laura has taught at Berkeley Repertory School for Theater, California Shakespeare Company, Marin Shakes, Word for Word Theatre Company and StageWrite. After graduate school, she moved to New York City, where she continued to study Acting with The Keen Company and Shakespeare at The American Globe Theater.
Laura is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association (AEA), American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG). Television credits include Trauma and Parenthood. She is a company member of Indra’s Net Theater Company.
Mitra is a sculpture instructor as well as an active sculptor and installation artist. After teaching at Sacramento City College for seven years, she is thrilled to live, teach, and practice art in the Bay Area. Mitra is looking forward to bringing fun and challenging projects to the students of West Valley College. Mitra got her BA from Kenyon College in Ohio, and her MFA California State University, Northridge. She has been actively showing since 2000, including exhibits at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, OR. Mitra is represented by Don Soker Contemporary Art in San Francisco and Hinge Modern in Los Angeles.
